Thank you to all the bus workers

Today is Bus Workers Support Day. A day to thank all the drivers, mechanics and operational teams that continue to keep our towns and cities moving.

The Confederation of Passenger Transport (CPT) has launched its '#ThankYouBusWorkers' campaign to celebrate all bus workers and the incredible work they are doing in extremely tough circumstances.

Quite rightly, much has already been said about brave bus drivers on the front-line, but we'd also like to give thanks to everybody working tirelessly behind the scenes.

As the UK and Ireland headed towards lockdown, we were forced to postpone the inaugural 'Scheduler of the Year' award ceremony. We're looking forward to it happening later in the year, but meanwhile we'd like to recognise the importance of all bus scheduling and network planning professionals.

Schedulers and planners have worked to unprecedented deadlines while witnessing never before seen fluctuations to their bus networks, to ensure that a vital public service remains in place to serve the people who need it most in these challenging times: critical, essential front-line staff.

The CPT will be sharing stories and messages of thanks on Twitter. If you have something to share, please use the hashtag #ThankYouBusWorkers or email media@cpt-uk.org.
